Job Description
Position: Manufacturing Engineering Manager
Reports to: General Manager
Department: Production Management
Status: Salaried / Exempt
Shift: 1st

Job Summary: To manage all aspects of engineering and support quality production, as well as ensuring all products meet quality standards and customer specifications. Control and Ownership of processes at SMT, Solder paste printing, Reflow Soldering, Hand Soldering, Through-hole insertion, Conformal Coating, Testing and other Assembly operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing by resolving engineering, equipment, process, and component issues. Monitor daily process actions and quality activities.
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and make recommendations for improvements to increase productivity, reduce costs, improve time management and overall process efficiencies. Once approved, generate, coordinate, and oversee process change implementation plan.
- Generate the documentation and training needed to define the needed process changes/improvements for the functional areas affected in accordance with the VIRTEX Quality Policy
- Responsible for training and supporting operators in generating machine programs and consistent programming techniques.
- Lead, assist, and train engineers, technicians, and programmers in process engineering duties.
- Lead, assist, and train assemblers in manufacturing processes.
- Develop machine setup, operation, and maintenance work instructions for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Assist manufacturing with equipment setups and maintenance.
- Assist QA team with Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Perform all process engineering functions associated with NPI, ECO and print release, including product routing flow and process requirements.
- Participate in prototype and first article assembly. Provide feedback to teams on design for manufacturing.
- Perform time studies on new and existing operations.
- Manage radiation safety officer responsibilities.
- Will participate in Quality Improvement Initiatives
- Will participate in Corrective Actions.
- Is responsible for personnel actions such as hiring, motivating, terminating, and reviewing the performance of employees.

Required Skills/Abilities
- Understand all department related VIRTEX policies.
- Excellent communication skills to communicate with Customers, all levels of Management, and Employees
- Manage multiple tasks, schedules, and projects in a fast-paced environment where priorities change constantly.
- Strong PC skills and Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret production and quality documents, drawings, and related industry materials.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
- Interpersonal skills, working with other engineers and managers.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret production documents, drawings, and related industry materials.
- Desire management, supervisory experience
Required Education and Experience:
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or combination of college and related manufacturing or process engineering experience of 6-10 years.
- Experience with SMT First Articles and SMT programming.
- Experience in SMT/Through Hole circuit board assembly.
- Experience working with CAD data, CircuitCAM software.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
