Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer II will be responsible for developing, implementing, and improving a variety of machining and assembly processes at SIG SAUER's firearm facilities located in NH. Emphasis will be placed on CNC machining and assembly of precision firearm components utilizing clearly defined technical drawings and interchangeable parts. In addition, this position will require execution of manufacturing feasibility, quality planning and corrective action for internal quality concerns.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and design manufacturing processes in plant.
  • Implement manufacturing processes for new and existing firearm product designs while providing budgetary estimates for equipment, tools, gages and production rate.
  • Use project management techniques to procure tooling and equipment for new products to meet launch timelines and cost targets.
  • Evaluate and improve product designs for Manufacturability while applying GD&T and dimensional stackups.
  • Provide production floor support to maintain output and quality for technical systems and manufacturing processes including:
    • High volume CNC machining
    • Machine / Tool Design
    • Assembly
    • Metal finishing
    • Automation
  • Originate and develop new systems and processes and implement into full production.
  • Debug and runoff new capital equipment in order to meet plant goals for quality, throughput and cost.
  • Recommend and implement alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products, and/or procedures and the output and quality of manufacturing processes.
  • Resolve quality issues related to product and processes using statistical methods.
  • Perform as technical leader for production personnel including setters, operators and technicians.
  • Provides consultation on problem solving teams and complete assigned tasks per agreed upon timelines.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering and at least 3-6 years of experience.
  • Proficiency with SOLIDWORKS or similar CAD system.
  • Good working knowledge of materials and heat-treating processes.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5M-1994.
  • Must be able to work in a team.
  • Plan and execute multiple projects.
  • Quality of work must be very high.
  • Written and verbal communication of complicated subjects is required. Organization of documentation and record keeping shall be to a high standard.
  • Must be able to demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Must be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Possesses a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
