Job Description
PLANT MANAGER (Manufacturing)
The Plant Manager works closely with safety, human resources, and strategic business development positions to create programs to support compliance and initiatives while operating within budget. They will help promote a culture of performance and accountability through engagement to enhance and develop talent capability. They will be the liaison with internal and external teams to ensure the company’s quality standards are met and will communicate regularly with all teams to optimize plant performance and resolve issues collaboratively.
Duties and responsibilities
The Plant Manager must fulfill many duties and responsibilities. They are not focused on one specific talent, but use various skills, including:
- Direct and coordinate daily operations of the manufacturing plant
- Develop & test processes to increase productivity, enhance performance and ensuring efficiency and safety
- Assure compliance with legal and safety regulations
- Screen, interview and manage the onboarding process of new hires
- Maintaining necessary administrative records
- Provide training and educational materials to staff as necessary
- Monitor & Optimize machinery/equipment with regular maintenance programs to ensure that they are in good working order. Repair or replace plant equipment as needed
- Oversee all levels of staff activity and performance
- Preparing and reviewing production reports
Qualifications
A minimum of 3+ years of proven operational / plant management experience in a construction or manufacturing related field
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements for operating plants
- Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting operational issues
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer technology
- Familiar with operating plant equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent organizational, time-management, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach employees to make decisions and improve their current tasks
- Ability to sit, stand and walk about the shop for long periods at a time
