Ascential Medical and Life Sciences is looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join their San Diego team. POSITION SUMMARY:The Manufacturing Process Engineer provides Engineering support to the Manufacturing and Product Development teams to ensure development of effective processes and the delivery of highest quality product to clients.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:These may include, but are not limited to:Identify and implement effective process control systems to support the development, qualification, and on-going manufacturing of products to meet or exceed internal and external requirementsDevelop Process Monitoring Systems by identifying critical process steps and applying methods to reduce process variation and reduce/eliminate the cause of defectsExperience with implementation of lean manufacturing processesExperience with production system implementation such as Toyota Production SystemExperience with Kaizen Events, Value Stream Mapping and other Continuous Improvement toolsLead process control and monitoring of Critical Quality Attributes and specificationsApply sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issuesDesign and conduct experiments for process optimization and/or improvementLead the investigation, resolution, prevention and reporting of product and process non-conformances and yield-related issuesFamiliarity with (SIPOC), DMAIC methodology, statistically-focused tools such as CpK, DOE, SPC, and Gage R&R)Lead process improvement efforts by identifying methods to capture quality metric data and by performing appropriate analysis methods to enhance sustaining product design and new product developmentWork closely with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Control to prevent non-conformities and provide solutions to complex issuesWork with the Quality and Engineering teams to helps to drive closures of NCRs and CAPAsApplies risk management, validation, sample size, and external standards review and implementation activities.May be responsible for creating Risk Analyses and Process FMEAsMay be involved in the development of new products and as such would support design control activitiesReview and approve verification and process validation, equipment qualification documentsRead and interpret prints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reportsEffectively use CAD and configuration management toolsCreate and modify work instructions. Provide training and support to assemblers and leads.Design, develop and release test procedures with acceptance (P/F) criteria for testing products at both subassembly and final assembly levels for use with the test apparatus in productionRecommend design modifications to eliminate product, subassembly or system malfunctions.Lead and support multiple projects, balancing priorities and resources to meet project and management expectationsPerform other duties as assigned, e.g. collect and publish production metrics, assist in general production supportEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Education: Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering or related field or a combination of education, certification and experience which fulfill the essential knowledge, skills and experience required for this position.Experience: Understanding of statistical methods and measurement techniques.Job Complexity: Works on moderately complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.SUPERVISION: Determines methods and procedures for new assignments. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures. General understanding of specified function. Performs this job in a quality system environment. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Has a general knowledge of Quality System Regulations.TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:Equipment: PC, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines. Basic test andmeasurement devices such as calipers, microscopes, strain gauges, etc.Software Knowledge: Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), SolidWorks/Creo experience preferredWORK ENVIRONMENT:Physical Activities:On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Intermittently answer telephone. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. TRAVEL:Travel limited to local area.This position is on-site at our Rancho Bernardo location and is considered a professional position and has a salary range of $115,000-$142,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
