Job Description
Overview
As a Manufacturing Project Engineer at the Red Diamond plant, you manage projects in support of the Red Diamond Plant on a range of projects from small to large improving safety, compliance, operability, and efficiency for the site.
You design piping systems, integrate controls systems, and manage construction contractors. You work with process control engineers and technicians to design the control systems. You seek competitive quotes and bids for equipment and work. Using vendor information, working with engineering and the field office, you create the startup and commissioning procedure. The job offers a chance to travel when first-hand knowledge of a site is important. Working with a strong team, juggling quality, cost, and schedule, you strive to achieve projects that are functional and economically driven.
Your organizational skills assist you in creating/maintaining process, safety, and environmental documentation including process flow diagrams, operating instructions, management of change (MOC) forms, etc. You also have the opportunity to share your expertise as you guide and mentor peer employees in the project management process. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with plant department managers, production staff, and SHES staff to identify and execute small to medium projects in order to improve safety, compliance, operability, and efficiency for the site.
- Manage and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure work is delivered on time, safely, with quality workmanship
- Monitor progress and track quantities for payment and cost purposes.
- Manage procurement and delivery of permanent materials, coordinating material suppliers to meet project schedule requirements.
- Assist in maintaining plant process safety information such as flow diagrams, P&ID's, mass balances, electrical classification, drawings, etc.
- Develop work plans to successfully execute work activities safely and efficiently.
- Analyze shop drawings, as-builts, and other contract required documents to ensure completeness and accuracy and submit to the owner with necessary documentation
- Support the Management of Change process through review for complete submittals, process safety, and proper implementation, including Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
- Develop start-up and commissioning procedures and oversee construction of projects
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, Mechanical engineering OR related field OR equivalent work experience
- At least 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Knowledge of project management.
- Knowledge of types of manufacturing equipment (pipes, pumps, tanks, sensors, control valves, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of process control systems
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, AutoCAD (or similar)
- Ability to perform work in a manufacturing environment which includes ascending and descending stairs and ladders
- Travel limited to less than 10%
Knowledge of sizing exchangers, metallurgy, selecting pump technology and sensor types, piping design, industrial systems engineering, storage, and field fabrication are all ideal skills of the successful candidate!
