The Lean Manufacturing Organization within Daktronics provides leadership and project management skills to successfully implement?Lean concepts across the Manufacturing Division,?which consists of?7 domestic and 2 international factories,?as well as support departments.??
?
As a Daktronics?Manufacturing Lean?Student, you will get an opportunity to?shadow an experienced Daktronics Lean practitioner and?apply classroom knowledge in the following areas:?
- Design, prototype, and develop workstations?to?optimize work processes?and?to?enhance safety of the operation.?
- Develop Lean Management System concepts and tools to be used by Lean Leaders throughout the company.?
- Collect and analyze data to support Lean initiatives.?
- Assist with the development of plant layout schemes to improve material handling and process flow.?
- Assist?with problem solving to identify and eliminate waste within our manufacturing and business processes.?
- A significant amount of time using the?experiences above to create and deliver?training as it relates to Lean concepts.?
- Work with various functions throughout Manufacturing to assure Lean techniques are being deployed consistently.?
- Work with various teams to complete identified actions that support continuous improvement activities.?
- Perform other duties as assigned to?meet internal and external?customer expectations.?

What is the pay and perks?
The typical hiring pay for this position is $20.00/hour to $22.00/hour. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.
Students with GPA of 3.5 and above are eligible for a $500 bonus (Academic Excellence Reward) each semester completed while employed.

Qualifications:
Academic requirements:??
- Candidate?must be enrolled as a student and registered in at least 12 credits.?
- Preferred candidate would be pursuing a?Bachelors?degree in?Operations Management, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.??
- Knowledge of Lean concepts and tools is a plus.
- Preferred applicant would be in their sophomore or junior year of school.??
- Only strong academic performers will be considered. Must maintain an acceptable GPA, preference to 3.0 GPA or greater.?
- Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered.?
Other Requirements:?
- Applicants should be available to work approximately 15 hours per week (maximum of 20 hours per week) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.?
- Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office?knowledge?is essential.?
- Good technical writing and verbal communication skills required.
- Good analytical and?organizational skills required.
- Ability to?collaborate?as a team member, with little supervision, and?communicate effectively?across the organization.?
- Consistently complete?quality work in a timely manner.?
- Physical Requirements include the ability to:?
- Lift and carry up to 45 pounds.?
- Distinguish and identify wire colors.?
- Ability to work with odors (solder/coating).?
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.?
- Ability to meet all workplace safety requirements.?
