Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY
A role that will oversee the critical role of optimization of manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives through active studies of production methodology, project management, and continuous quality control implementation. This role also requires the ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship with the ability to conduct training sessions, as well as knowledge of current industry trends to further improve production. Overseeing the installation, maintenance and calibration of equipment and technologies is also a requirement for this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
- Drive production efficiencies and equipment uptime through equipment reliability, tooling improvements, and process improvements.
- Suggest, justify, implement, manage, and report on the plants capital projects
- Engages in lean manufacturing initiatives to improve safety, material flow, cycle times, productivity and capacity.
- Assist Operations and ZI Engineering team to continually enhance safety, production flow, and process improvement.
- Implement Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FEMA) and Root Cause Analysis.
- Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance departments regarding problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing team to ensure purchase orders are in place for parts and services required for relevant work orders.
- Collaborate with Maintenance leaders to lead and manage the use of SAP as the CMMS system ensuring all work requests, requirements and relevant data are captured and maintained.
- Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of industrial experience, preferably in the steel industry, preferably with proven experience in managing large capital projects at every step.
- Experience working with vendors and/or government agencies is preferred.
- Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or PMP is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
- Strong organizational and planning skills with ability to focus time on the most important and urgent issues
- Strong ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Strong ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internal business application computer system. Familiarity with bar-coding management is required.
