Job Description

Who You’ll Work With
As an Arista Manufacturing New Product Introduction Engineer, you will engage with Engineering, Platform Design, CM Partners, CA personnel and other business functions. You will get an opportunity to work with some of the smartest engineering and technical leaders in the industry.

What You’ll Do

  • We are seeking candidates who take pride in driving and sustaining product development through manufacturing.
  • Support the development of new products and drive design for manufacturing excellence.
  • Participate on a project team of engineers involved in the specification, design, development, and test of the hardware.
  • Provide manufacturing input to mechanical design reviews.
  • Design for DFx : DFC, DFQ, DFM, DFR, DFT.
  • Evaluate technical readiness prior to release. Deliver Technical Readiness reviews with the cross-functional team.
  • Perform new product and sustaining engineering functions.
  • BOM risk assessment, grading and second sourcing.
  • Manufacturer’s PCN execution and coordination, provide analysis and qualification resources.
  • Interface/engage with Engineering, Platform Engineering, Marketing, TAC, and CM Partners.
  • Provide training/mentorship to contract manufacturing personnel. Ensure that Manufacturing receives the required level of product training.
  • Improve manufacturing operations processes and actively enhance efficiency, consistency, cost avoidance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive the evaluation and enhancement of the engineering design verification process with the goal of releasing zero design defects to production.
  • Establish technical direction through the investigation and evaluation of new
  • manufacturing technologies.
  • Approve and validate mechanical first articles.
  • Manage the release of New Products and manage technical changes to existing products through BOM management, ECO, and deviation processes.
  • Assist in early prototype testing and troubleshooting/debug to find root cause failures and drive back fixes to engineering or contract manufacturer.
  • Debug complex system-level problems and drive root cause analysis.
  • DRT participation and leadership. Actively work with the Defect Reduction Team to identify product issues and drive resolutions.
  • Work in conformance with established manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Perform value engineering and cost reduction activities.
  • Develop manufacturing process and best practice documentation.
  • Knowledge and an ability to design assembly fixture, jig and tooling to support high volume manufacturing.
Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years of experience in Manufacturing Product, Process, or NPI Engineering in Networking equipment manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in networking products related to routing, switching, and data center.
  • Expert knowledge in ECO, BOM, and Deviation processes, (Agile experience a plus).
  • Solid working knowledge of DFx (DFM, DFA, DFT, DFQ and/or DFR), production fixturing, inspection processes, and overall manufacturing quality control.
  • Strong knowledge of basic manufacturing processes including CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal production, coating technologies, and finishing operations.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials and processes.
  • Experience working with Contract Manufacturers and Supply Chain vendors in Asia.
  • Ability to establish technical direction through the investigation and evaluation of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to understand and create tolerance stack-up of parts and assemblies.
  • Work independently and as a strong team player: be detail-oriented, organized, and hands on.
  • Working knowledge of lab equipment and tools.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Some travel required.

Compensation Information:

The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $100,000 to $175,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista’s Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
