Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer
WaterSaver Faucet Co. manufactures specialized precision valves and faucets for use in science laboratories. We are a third-generation, family-owned company that has been in business for over sixty-five years. Our products are used all over the world and we are the worldwide leader in our industry.
Our 125,000 square foot headquarters was recently expanded and renovated into a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold-certified manufacturing plant and office space and is located on the northwestern edge of downtown Chicago. CTA train and bus, Metra and Divvy stations are all within walking distance and we are only a few minutes from the Kennedy Expressway and offer free on-site parking. We employ roughly 160 people on-site and over 250 world-wide.

Role & Responsibilities:
We have an opening in our Engineering Department for a Manufacturing Engineer. This is a hands-on role, working to support manufacturing processes in our machine shop. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following.

Role & Responsibilities:
We have an opening in our Engineering Department for a Manufacturing Engineer. This is a hands-on role, working to support manufacturing processes in our machine shop. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following.
- CNC Programming
- Create CNC programs for prototype and production components.
- Improve current processes by creating process documentation, cycle time reduction, investigating new tooling and processes, etc.
- Troubleshoot production and quality issues in real time.
- Work with software partners to develop robust Post Processors for all CNC control types.
- CAD Design and Modelling
- Design new tooling and fixtures to improve efficiency and reduce cycle times.
- Work with design engineering to improve DFM/DFA of component parts.
- Document tooling, fixturing, and work-holding by creating solid models and part prints.
- Robotics Integration
- Implementation of robotic machine tending for CNC equipment including design, fabrication, programming and testing of work cells.
- Improve/troubleshoot processes on current robotic cells.
- Create work instructions for current and new robotic cells.
- Process Improvement/Lean Manufacturing/5S
- Use principles of lean manufacturing to reduce waste, increase thruput and maximize efficiency throughout the shop.
- Create process documentation to reduce downtime and ensure parts are made the most efficient way every time.
- Foster culture of continuous improvement that focuses on bringing all stakeholders together to work towards common goals.
Candidates should possess the following qualifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial manufacturing or mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 5-7 years of hands-on work experience (internship, coop, full-time, etc.) in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (milling, turning, bending, grinding, etc.).
- Knowledge of CNC programming (Fanuc, Okuma OSP preferred).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, MasterCAM (or similar), Microsoft Office.
- Desire to work hands-on in a machine shop environment.
- Team player, able to work with people from the shop floor to the corner office.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to adapt quickly and learn new processes and technologies in a fast paced, ever-changing role.
