Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for Director of Manufacturing / Trades at our Marinette, Wisconsin location.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of FMM through system and process development, definition, coordination, and support through the core business functions of strategic integration, continuous improvement, production planning and manufacturing. Directs and coordinates the activities of all manufacturing department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Strategic Integration:
- Development of shipyard strategic plans (near term, 5 year, 10 year, etc.) to ensure the achievement of FMM and Fincantieri business objectives.
- Develop and maintain key dates and milestones for each project.
- Develop and integrate projects, business operating plans and schedules across functions.
- Implementation of CAPEX investment into manufacturing, to include process, procedures and training in support of efficient manufacturing.
- Develop and implement new processes/procedures to improving manufacturing.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Establish and maintain communication across functions within FMM and across Fincantieri to improve manufacturing and share lessons learned.
- Seek out new technologies, techniques and equipment, and then integrate them into FMM processes/procedures to improve manufacturing.
- Production Engineering and Design:
- Coordinate with Engineering to design in efficient manufacturing processes/procedures, techniques and sequencing to maximize manufacturing efficiency (design to cost).
- Production Planning:
- Define the Workstation Yard Map and Workstation Plan, and perform a significant re-plan if needed. (PP&C will manage weekly maintenance of workstation plan and Yard Maps).
- Manufacturing:
- Identify, elicit, evaluate, develop and manage improvement projects across the yard.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop "Micro-Methods" of production to improve efficiency. Identify and implement an efficient manufacturing processes and technology through industrial engineering.
- Develop plans for manufacturing support activities (ship ventilation plans, module move and transport, barges, platforms, etc.).
- Lead design of new jigs, tools and equipment to support manufacturing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field.
- At least 10 years of related work experience in the field of production engineering and ship building/repair.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience required
- AutoCAD experience is a plus
- Must have strong leadership and technical skills.
- Must have the ability to coordinate the development of innovative ship design and production engineering solutions.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, particularly Excel.
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
- Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
