Location and Reporting Structure:

This position is based in Miami and reports to the Engineering Manager.

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer, Level 2, plays a pivotal role in advancing manufacturing processes and contributing to the refinement of new and existing products. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing principles and practices to address complex challenges, devise innovative solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designing and Testing: Design and test new equipment, processes, and systems using advanced tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Factory Layout: Plan and optimize factory layouts to enhance production efficiency, including layout changes.
  • Automation: Research and implement automation techniques to maximize production line efficiency, with experience in PFMEA (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) preferred.
  • Maintenance: Plan and organize maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to ensure smooth operations.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and repair equipment and respond to breakdowns.
  • Documentation: Create and update comprehensive documentation for manufacturing processes and changes.
  • Communication: Liaise with suppliers, customers, and R&D staff to ensure alignment and address issues.
  • Training: Develop training materials and conduct training for the production team on new equipment, including specifying, commissioning, and installation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with teams to support manufacturing projects and process improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen. Implement 5S principles and utilize tools like Tableau for data analysis and process tracking.
  • Jigs & Fixtures: Design and implement jigs and fixtures to improve manufacturing efficiency.
Preferred Experience and Expertise:

  • Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma: Experience implementing Lean principles to streamline processes and reduce waste.
  • Kaizen: Experience with Kaizen practices for continuous incremental improvement.
  • Layout Changes: Expertise in planning and executing factory layout changes to optimize production.
  • Automation: Knowledge of automation techniques and systems to enhance production efficiency.
  • HASS CNC: Proficiency in programing and setup.
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in manufacturing or engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex manufacturing challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing environments.
