Vice President of Manufacturing

Transwall Office Systems, Inc., a dynamic and growing company, is seeking a Vice President of Operations. In this key leadership role, you will oversee critical functions that enhance salesforce efficiency and productivity, including Purchasing, Logistics, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Quality. Reporting to the President, you will play a pivotal role in guiding strategic decisions by evaluating growth opportunities and risks.


The Vice President of Operations plays a pivotal role in leading production quality, efficiency, and cost management for a business with over $45 million in annual revenue. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Operations is responsible for shaping and executing the overall strategy for production. This role demands a strong expertise in manufacturing best practices, leadership of a diverse team, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will also possess the capability to implement growth strategies and oversee the introduction of new manufacturing technologies.


Key Responsibilities:


Operations

  • Oversee all functions related to Purchasing, Logistics, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Quality.
  • Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for Safety, Quality, On-Time/Complete Shipping, and Productivity.
  • Develop and manage the Operations budget, ensuring alignment with the Sales & Operations Plan (S&OP).
  • Demonstrate accountability and a comprehensive understanding of Operations' impact on the Profit & Loss (P&L) statement.
  • Lead strategic business planning initiatives in collaboration with other departments.
  • Conduct quarterly capacity planning based on forecasted demand.
  • Implement recruitment, training, retention, and career development strategies that align with company objectives.
  • Champion Total Quality Management (TQM) initiatives, providing strong leadership in the adoption of new technologies.

Purchasing

  • Oversee purchasing, materials planning, production scheduling, and logistics operations.
  • Ensure seamless coordination of order fulfillment across sales, estimating, engineering, and manufacturing, ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Direct the flow of orders and specifications between sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams.


Logistics

  • Ensure the proper maintenance and operation of company delivery vehicles.
  • Oversee the management of purchasing, procurement, scheduling, and logistics functions.
  • Manage inbound and outbound freight operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Manufacturing

  • Manage the plant to meet customer demand by overseeing and optimizing operational performance to ensure the production of quality products, delivered on time and within budget.
  • Establish and manage daily KPIs to monitor operational performance in the areas of Safety, Quality, On-Time/Complete Shipping, and Productivity.
  • Lead efforts to improve gross margins by reducing material costs and boosting productivity, all while maintaining quality, safety, and meeting customer requirements. Drive strategic technology initiatives to support these objectives.

Qualifications


  • S. Industrial or related Engineering Degree
  • 10+ years hands on experience in manufacturing/management role
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing methods, i.e., lean manufacturing, demand flow, ERP, etc.
  • Proven track record for effective leadership
