Job Description
Summary
This position is responsible for providing hands-on, on the floor supervisory support to all areas of Quality Assurance during production. Provide training in Quality Assurance procedures to FSQA Technicians and production staff. Assist in investigating customer complaints and summarize findings with a corrective action plan. Monitor new products and processes for control points and provide detailed reports and training.
Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities
- Schedule, train, guide, and monitor, all production and FSQA technicians.
- Provide support to the Quality Assurance team as needed.
- Authorized to delegate and to perform holds on products based on food safety or quality non-conformities. Places hold on both physically and in ERP NAV system. Authorized to released for disposition.
- Fill out Daily Quality Summary Report.
- Daily Good Manufacturing Practices facility walkthroughs.
- Manage people on the floor for Quality Assurance purposes.
- Verify production and quality control documentation related to Quality Assurance.
- Train people to be in accordance with GMP, Good Documentation Practices, and Food Safety System (to inspect product handling for example).
- Create presentations for training (involves requesting information from Operations subject matter experts).
- Work with Operations and Quality Management to achieve Quality Assurance goals (to maintain a clean facility, GMP’S, document processes, derive information to improve processes and procedures, etc…).
- Implement quality improvements in manufacturing, warehouse, and maintenance departments (trays, gloves, equipment improvement, sufficient personnel to certain areas).
- Complete Supplier Corrective Action Reports for suppliers when out specification raw materials are received onsite.
- Assist in root cause investigations and provide corrective and preventive actions to customers when receiving complaints.
- Assist with 3rd party and customer audits.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and enforce them with all employees, as well as the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Safety purposes

Responsibilities Receiving Staff
- Report all deviations from GMP, HACCP, SQF, and specification requirements immediately to the Senior Quality Assurance Manager.
- Inspect the outgoing finished products before shipping to the customer.
- Place raw materials and/or finished products on Quality Hold in the System when necessary, and release them off Hold according to the Quality Hold Procedure. Closeout holds and notifies the designated On Hold group electronically.
- Perform weekly inspections of the warehouse and report to Quality management.
- Perform weekly scale calibration for all the Production areas and maintains documentation.
- Contact suppliers, outside services, and outside labs to send samples and request test results or COAs.
- Inspect returned goods and follow HIF protocol for disposition.
- Inspect materials for repacking or resell orders before shipment.
- Works on the transfer of documents from paper to electronic.
- Assists in keeping supplier files, calibration binders, raw material inspection documents, COAs, etc. up to date and in an audit-ready state.
Food Safety and Culture Expectations
- Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOPs
- Communicates and assists in resolving any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to management or direct supervisor.
- Attends Food Safety/Quality training sessions as required
Minimum Qualification Requiremetns
- 3-5 years experience in a lead Quality assurance position in a food manufacturing facility and a high school diploma (or equivalent) or
- 1-2 years experience in Quality Assurance in a food manufacturing facility and a minimum BS degree in a science major.
- SQF/GFSI Certification (SQF Practitioner) a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, E-mail, internet, etc.) computer-based programs.
- Bilingual. Must have the ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English and be fluent in conversational Spanish.
- HACCP/PCQI certification a plus
- Demonstrate full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices policies, Good Laboratory practices, and procedures.
- Very Good mathematical and problem solving skills are required.
- Able to follow written or verbal instructions.
- Demonstrate good communication skills.
- Able to work flexible hours and weekends
