We invite applications of interested and qualified instructors to teach as ADJUNCT/PART-TIME faculty in the Career & Technical Education division.The position is under the general supervision of the Dean of the School of Applied Technology & Business Education. Desired qualities include experience with one or more of the following areas: mechanical systems, electronics, electromechanical systems, industrial controls, fluid power systems, automation equipment, or CNC machining.Teaching experience and or coursework in teaching methodologies and strategies as well as understanding of curriculum design, team building and outreach/marketing concepts are also desired qualities. The program will be offered at the Main Campus in Fairfield. Courses may be offered in afternoon and evenings and in summer.For your information, the District may cancel classes or change instructors as enrollment needs are determined; the District will notify affected parties and pay employees for actual services rendered. Adjunct/Part-Time faculty are paid for classroom instruction hours (lecture and lab) only. Paid office hours are available to adjunct faculty in fall and spring semesters who teach a 40% assignment or more. ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate may be expected to provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations, inform students about course requirements, prepare and grade assignments and examinations; meet administrative timelines and submit completed and required documents and reports; and maintain required student attendance and scholastic records.Provide instruction in accordance with established program course outlines of record; inform/advise students about program requirements; evaluate and provide timely verbal and written assessments of student performance; prepare and grade assignments and examinations; meet administrative timelines and submit completed reports and required documents; and maintain required student attendance, scholastic records, and other related materials.Develop, review, and maintain currency of curriculum for courses the individual teaches in collaboration with other instructors.Work in collaboration with other instructors of the Applied Technology Department in coordinating curriculum, teaching materials and equipment.Support students' academic success by maintaining regular office hours, advising students and providing service to students with special needs.Use technology in the academic environment to enhance student learning.Maintain current knowledge and skills in the area of assignment.Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and developmentParticipate as an active member of working committees dealing with instruction, college-wide and department assessment, student matters, and/or college related concerns Teaching assignments may include evening and weekend hours, and off-campus instruction in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and College and School policies.Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Applied Technology and Business.
