Job Description
Turner & Townsend are seeking a Senior Construction Scheduler to work with our team and partner with a key technology client to lead Scheduling on large-scale manufacturing construction projects.
The Scheduler should have experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to plan, develop and execute construction schedules for mission critical facilities. This includes new-builds and retrofits to existing /operating facilities.
The ideal candidate should have an excellent understanding of scheduling best practices, resource & cost loaded scheduling, overall construction project controls as well as the interpersonal skills to be able to work closely with the internal stakeholders of the project team on a daily basis.
The Scheduler will take responsibility for end to end service delivery and to act as key, day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met through the delivery of a value added service. To be successful in this role you must have great communication skills and be comfortable operating in a client-facing role.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- 25% travel to sites is anticipated.
- Must understand construction means and methods.
- Daily utilization of Primavera P6 (including WBS, CBS, Activity Codes, etc.)
- Contribute to development of new techniques and standards.
- Plans and prepares schedules for business unit or organization.
- Ability to develop Enterprise Program Structure (EPS), Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for construction projects and programs.
- Instigate, Develop and Monitor the planning and progress monitoring procedures to ensure that each element of the project performs the processes timely and consistently.
- Develops and Owns (with management team) the overall schedule monthly progress update, forecast, critical path and trend analysis.
- Prepares schedule reports including Critical Path Analyses, Construction Impact Analyses (Waterfall Schedule), Cash-flow Projections, Schedule Variance Analyses (Current v. Baseline)
- Review contractor schedules with emphasis on coordinating design, procurement, construction, equipment installation, and facility commissioning activities with emphasis on inter-trade coordination and phasing.
- Review scope change requests for the impact on schedules and the critical path of projects.
- Consolidate the impact of approved changes and any deviations from the key project targets and milestones, including productivity monitoring and” What if Scenarios”.
- Liaise with and challenge project management personnel to ensure proper understanding of key schedule sensitivities and drivers.
- Review the construction schedule and site logistics plans submitted by the contractors and advise as appropriate.
- Ability to conduct schedule review meetings with Owner, General Contractors, Subcontractors, and Vendors
- Ability to present results of schedule analyses to senior staff.
- Deliver Close-Out data to enable knowledge retention (lessons learned, project data compilation) at completion of projects.
- Lead “Lean Construction Principle” including Pull Planning Sessions, Weekly Work Planning and Daily Huddles
- Drive schedule analysis to ensure the project manager has a clear understanding of risks and risk mitigation strategies.
- Specialized skills and proficiency with project/program controls software
- Extensive knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6 scheduling software required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Fully versed with Planning principles and techniques
- Excellent analytical, oral and written communication
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications and construction sequencing is required.
- BS/BA Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or another construction related subject or equivalent experience.
- PSP certification by AACE in planning/scheduling is beneficial.
- Successful completion of the Primavera P6 skills test beneficial.
- A background in Project Controls is beneficial.
