KSS is looking for a dynamic and passionate Field Service Engineer to assist KSS commission membrane systems purchased by clients, maintain existing systems, audit customer processes and troubleshoot technical problems. We will provide on the job training and a great team atmosphere. The right person must be open to learning, taking feedback and be proud of the work that they perform.
Working closely with KSS process engineering, controls engineering, and project management this role will allow cross-disciplinary learning in a variety of industries in which KSS membranes and systems play critical roles.
KSS’ Field Service Engineers become the face of the company while on site; recommending spare parts and service solutions to improve machine uptime, maintenance and operation, as well as managing documentation to help improve internal and external processes.
When not traveling, the Field Service Engineer will perform service tasks including, but not limited to, troubleshooting customer issues via telephone, email and online meetings, preparing system documentation, and supporting KSS’ pilot system program.
Responsibilities
- Capable of performing service activities on membrane systems comprised of various technologies such as MBR, UF, NF and RO filtration both in person and remotely.
- Organize and prioritize schedule in accordance with customer requirements to determine needs for immediate attention, onsite visits, and remote assistance.
- Travel to customer sites to perform system commissioning, maintenance, auditing and troubleshooting.
- Participate in and conduct customer training sessions.
- Troubleshooting areas include: electrical, mechanical, and digital (both PLC code and HMI applications).
- Manage system documentation to ensure accurate data recording, making process recommendations as needed.
- Collaborate with Quality, Process and Design Engineering to improve test methods and find resolution for identified problems.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure installation compliance with KSS drawings and specifications.
- Maintain accurate service logs and enter them in system database.
- Answer KSS’ technical services telephone line, supporting customers remotely as they call for troubleshooting.
- Assist in preparing KSS pilot systems for customer trials.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or 2+ years experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Manufacturing engineering experience preferred.
- Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to inquiries, communicate and interact with all client levels.
- Experience with ladder logic and HMI applications preferred
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting preferred
- Excellent verbal, written, MS Office, computer, technical data, and networking communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently, prioritize, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines within an entrepreneurial and customer-focused work environment.
- Familiarity of quality management systems (ISO 9001 or ISO 13485)
- Ability and willingness to travel within the United States approximately 50% as required.
- Limited travel to other regions may also be required.
- Exemplify willingness and flexibility in working differing time shifts to accommodate customer needs.
- Exhibit strong leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear including but not limited to: safety-toed footwear, safety vests, safety eyewear, fall harnesses, hearing protection, etc.
- Must be able to work on feet for extended periods of time.
