This position is integral to ensuring that our flavor products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
Job Summary:The Laboratory Technician will work within the Flavor development team to support the development, testing, and analysis of flavor products. This role involves maintaining organization and cleanliness of the laboratory at all times while monitoring supply levels and re-stocking consumables as needed. The technician will collaborate with flavorists, chemists, and other team members to ensure that products meet regulatory requirements and company standards.
Essential Functions:
Manage supplies:
- Ensure adequate stock supplies to include bottles, pipettes, odor wands, and tongue depressors.
- Supplies should be orderly and condensed with labeled locations as needed.
- Maintain necessary supplies and records of all durable lab goods.
- Coordinate as appropriate for proper brand and cost effective products.
- This includes but is not limited to all items being stocked as well as washing supplies, harvest supplies, gloves, glassware, caps, etc.
Maintain responsibility for filing samples in the walk-in cooler:
- Keep cooler organized with boxes labeled.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records for customer samples, shipping order samples, and production order samples.
- Filing cart monitored and cleared weekly or more often as needed.
- Salvage expired materials as appropriate.
- Cooler floor cleaned bi-annually or more frequently as appropriate.
Maintain a regular cleaning schedule of the lab:
- Glassware to be cleaned and re-stocked daily.
- Dusting should be done bi-monthly, to include oven tops, benchtop equipment, hutches, and shelving.
- Salvage bottles emptied on a regular basis.
- Counters & cabinet doors wiped down weekly or more frequently if needed.
- Perform cleaning of application laboratory equipment, dishware, and work areas.
- Re-fill sanitizer pray bottles as required.
Support Flavorists and team members:
- Prepare application screening bases as instructed.
- Compound formulas as instructed.
- Request samples from production for outgoing requests and flavor development projects.
- Prepare ad hoc sensory evaluations.
- Validate all scales daily in the morning prior to compounding work commencing.
