General Description and Purpose
Pratt Community College is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to teach a Phlebotomy course. This position is an adjunct instructor position, and will involve instructing students on the proper techniques and procedures for drawing blood, as well as other essential skills needed for a successful career in phlebotomy.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver lesson plans that cover all aspects of phlebotomy, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen handling
* Provide hands-on training and supervision to students during lab sessions - Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
* Maintain a safe and organized learning environment
* Stay current with industry trends and best practices in phlebotomy
Coordination and Accountability Tasks:
* Collaborate in tandem with Director of Allied Health to ensure that goals and assigned tasks are communicated and adhered to.
* Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and other Characteristics
* Knowledge of Phlebotomy Procedures: A phlebotomy instructor should have a thorough understanding of phlebotomy techniques, protocols, and procedures to effectively teach students.
* Teaching Skills: Strong teaching abilities are essential for a phlebotomy instructor to effectively convey complex information to students in a clear and understandable manner.
* Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are crucial for a phlebotomy instructor to interact with students, explain concepts, provide feedback, and address questions or concerns.
* Patience and Empathy: Phlebotomy instructors should have patience and empathy when working with students, especially those who may be nervous or inexperienced with phlebotomy procedures.
* Clinical Experience: Hands-on experience in a clinical setting as a practicing phlebotomist is valuable for a phlebotomy instructor to share real-world insights and practical tips with students.
* Organization and Time Management: The ability to organize lesson plans, manage class schedules, and prioritize tasks is important for a phlebotomy instructor to ensure a smooth and efficient learning experience for students.

Educational Requirements
* Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification with a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a phlebotomist
* A degree in a related field with 2 years of experience
