Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor 2 is responsible for the daily oversight and operations of all UCI Pathology Patient Service Centers making sure that quality control programs are in place to ensure reliability of procedures. Position is responsible for overseeing supervision of staff: hiring, training, evaluations, corrective action, etc. The incumbent will plan and schedule work for the groups ensuring proper distribution of assignments and cross training. Position selects, orients and trains new staff, directs workflow, coaches and disciplines staff, defines performance expectations, assures excellent customer service, ensures staff competency, maintains accurate records, provides for effective communication and encourages ongoing employee development. The Laboratory Processing Supervisor ensures that the process of drawing, receiving and processing of blood is performed according to safety and compliance standards. It is also expected that the Laboratory Processing Supervisor may have to travel from one location to another to direct, supervise and coordinate activities of all the Patient Service Centers.

Required Qualifications:
- Willingness to participate in teleconferences and other continuing education program
- Willingness and ability to train new CLS students, residents, and new hires.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must have a minimum two (2) years experience and the ability to embed and perform special stains
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work with Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to communicate effectively with resident and faculty in regard to different issues
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior supervisory/leadership experience of at least five (5) years.
Licenses and Certifications:
- CPT I
