About the Accounting Specialist role:

The Accounting Specialist – Limited-term/Sunset supports Tacoma Housing Authority’s strategic and operational objectives by providing high-quality financial and administrative services. The Accounting Specialist – Limited-term/Sunset ensures THA’s programs deliver excellent services, gain funder confidence, and maintain public trust through accurate financial operations.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform a variety of complex accounting and administrative duties, including but not limited to general ledger, Section 8 accounting, purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, tenant accounting, grant/development accounting, payroll, and general accounting responsibilities.
  • Compute, classify, verify, and record numerical data.
  • Reconcile accounts, records, and documents.
  • Assist in collecting, maintaining, and reporting financial information.

Who You Are:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2 or more years of progressively responsible experience in business accounting.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in public housing or governmental settings preferred.
