Job Description
A small and growing beverage + retail company based in LA seeks an Accounting Manager to help drive the company's financial success as they continue to expand. Candidates with at least 5 years of accounting experience are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have the ability to analyze results rather than just producing/reporting on them; be open minded about process improvement and change management; have experience cleaning up and restructuring accounting systems; and is someone who is collaborativeand can instill accountability.
OVERVIEW:
The Accounting Manager will manage all aspects of the companys financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. This role requires a hands-on professional with a strong understanding of retail operations and the ability to provide strategic financial insights to the Executive Team. The Accounting Manager will be critical in ensuring the companys financial health, compliance with accounting standards, and achieving financial goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Manage relationships with accounting/AP contractors ensuring that their work is accurate and timely.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
- Continuously review and improve financial processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Work with CEO and contracted, fractional CFO, to develop, manage, and monitor the companys annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making, business growth, and profitability.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns, regulatory reports, and other compliance-related filings by assisting company CPAs.
- Work closely with the CEO to develop and execute financial strategies in alignment with the companys overall business objectives.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial planning to support day-to-day operations and long-term financial health.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the companys assets and ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Assist in the evaluation of vendor contracts, leases, and other financial agreements.
- Lead and manage the external audit process and coordinate with auditors to ensure a clean and timely audit.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting/finance roles.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience in the retail or food & beverage industry is preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (R365, Ottimate, Bill.com) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience setting and managing goal metrics, including revenue, EBITDA, labor expenses, inventory health, and COGS KPIs.
- Excellent analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach to financial management.
- Ability to articulate and exemplify the brands culture and standards.
- High level of organizational skills in breaking up complex systems into manageable pieces of work
- Ability to analyze financial trends to recommend informed actions.
