This role is a full-time position located on-site at our well-established and friendly clinic. The nature of this job requires direct interaction with patients and onsite collaboration with the dental care team, and as such, it is not eligible for remote work. We are looking for someone who is passionate about dental health and committed to providing exceptional care to every patient.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Set up and breakdown of the operatory post-treatment.
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays) as prescribed.
- Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
- Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
- Take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth).
- Perform administrative or front-desk responsibilities such as scheduling, billing, and document handling as needed.
- Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing and ordering supplies).
- Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery.
- Proven experience as a dental assistant with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience preferred.
- High level of proficiency in taking digital dental radiographs and managing digital dental records.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to adhering to these standards in the workplace (e.g., OSHA and HIPAA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with dedicated professionalism and a team player attitude.
- Ability to stay calm and efficient under pressure whilst maintaining a caring demeanor with patients.
- Physical stamina and dexterity necessary to perform all responsibilities over longer periods of time.
