TRP Construction Group with locations in Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, is a rapidly growing road stripping company with career advancement opportunities. TRP is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to become part of our highway striping team and to share our core values of increasing road safety of the traveling public and delivering the highest level of safety, precision and excellence. Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle record (MVR).

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly) Pay: Based on Experience

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

• At all times maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.

• Diagnose, repair and replace damaged or worn parts.

• Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance.

• Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.

• Read and understand operating manuals and technical drawings.

• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment safely using hoists, bracing and hand tools.

• Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.

• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.

• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear

• Ability to safely weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools according to manufacturer recommendations.

• Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs.

• Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

• Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment and keep equipment proper service records.

• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.

• Assemble gear systems, and align frames or gears-:

Qualifications:

• 5 years prior mechanical experience on heavy equipment.

• Attention to safety and always maintain and exceed proper OSHA standards.

• Ability to read and execute work orders.

• Ability to work and train with a diverse group of individuals.

• Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent organizational skills with attention to a high level of detail

• Thoroughness and reliability

• Must have a driver's license

• Must have own tools

Physical Requirements:

• Regular job functions include continuous strenuous activities such as repetitive reaching, bending, lifting, twisting, kneeling, squatting and pulling; prolonged periods of standing, sitting, kneeling and walking; and properly operating motorized equipment and vehicles.

• Essential job functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for light to heavy lifting and carrying including frequent lifting to 50 lbs, occasional lifting up to 100 lbs, and on rare conditions safely moving over 100 pounds. As well as performing work activities that require fine manual dexterity or coordination in operating machines and equipment with steering wheels, joysticks, buttons, knobs, handles, toggle and rocker switches.


• Regular job functions are carried out in difficult and frequently hazardous working environments, to include temperature extremes, extensive direct sunlight, night work and heavy traffic situations.

• Regular job functions are carried out in an environment with exposure to noise, including those associated with airports, highways, construction sites and construction equipment.

• Frequent exposure to paint, thermoplastic, paint fumes, thermoplastic fumes, bituminous adhesive, chemicals, chemical fumes and other environmental substances.

• Maintain throughout the course of employment, the physical condition appropriate to the performance of the assigned duties.

• Noise level of the work environment is moderate to loud.

Availability:

• Monday - Friday.

• Weekend availability

• Must be able to reliably commute or relocate prior to starting work

• Willing to travel, sometimes with minimal notification.

• To perform the above at various On-site work locations and conditions.
