Job Description:
We are seeking a Specialist, Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our facility in Canoga Park, CA (Los Angeles area).

At this facility, we design & manufacture rocket engines and unique power systems that support space exploration & the defense of our nation such as NASA’s SLS, Lockheed Martin’s THAAD, Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser, and the Mars Perseverance Rover.
Essential Functions:
40% - Manufacturing/Process Engineering
- Improve production rates through continuous process improvement
- Implement advanced process controls in AM to reduce variation
- Evaluate and implement safety improvements for the Additive Manufacturing process and material handling
- Support digital manufacturing and data analytics for predictive maintenance
- Implement industrial manufacturing best practices for a visual workplace
- Work with the factory to implement improvements for post processing of printed hardware, including designing/developing tooling and fixturing
- Generating work instructions for printing and post-processing of various 3D printed component
40% - Design Engineering
- Review part drawings to identify critical features, improvements for additive manufacturing
- Refine CAD data for design of manufacturing
- Design supports, and generate build files for printing
20% - Project Management
- Create & maintain a project schedule
- Lead or participate in implementation of production cell for the printing and post processing of hardware.
- Manage facility upgrades that will help to burn down risks and drive process improvements
- Work with subject matter experts across the enterprise to help drive continuous improvement activities
- Monitor supplier activities and work with Purchasing on the acquisition of capital items
- Evaluation of proposed parts for the Additive process
- Generate base timing, costs, and scheduling
- Generate quotes
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant Manufacturing Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with metal additive manufacturing (EOS, GE Concept Laser, SLM Solutions, Laser Powder Bed)
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills to include report writing, requirements derivation, and documentation, as well as design review presentations
Addional Preferences:
- Experience with CAD design Software SolidWorks and/or Creo,
- Experience with additive software EOS Print and Materialise Magics
- Experience with additive simulation software
- Working knowledge of inspection methods, including X-Ray, CT, Structured Light
- Experience with root cause analysis, quality management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, GOM, machine maintenance, flight hardware, working with NASA/GOV, GD&T
- Working knowledge of Heat Transfer and Thermal Dynamics with a focus on Additive Manufacturing
- Working knowledge of Laser Welding theory, concepts, and or applications with a focus on Additive Manufacturing
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- Working experience in utilizing Big Data & Industry 4.0 techniques and concepts
- Experience with automation in manufacturing work environments
- Desire to work with a team, developing each other’s skillsets and furthering one another’s knowledge
- Desire to educate others on AM technologies and capabilities
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $76,500.00- $142,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
