We are seeking a highly experienced Senior CNC Machinist / Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring our CNC machines operate efficiently and effectively, troubleshooting issues, and leading process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, including lathe and mill operations, and experience in creating and optimizing CAM programs.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior CNC Machinist / Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring our CNC machines operate efficiently and effectively, troubleshooting issues, and leading process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining, including lathe and mill operations, and experience in creating and optimizing CAM programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Ensure all CNC machines are running smoothly and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including continuous improvement, process improvement, and part quoting.
- Fixture Design: Design new fixtures or review and upgrade existing ones.
- Collaboration: Work closely with machinists, programmers, junior manufacturing engineers, and other departments.
- CNC Focus: Specialize in CNC operations, including programming from scratch, designing fixtures, and troubleshooting.
- Leadership: Lead new piece runs and support machinists as needed.
- Secondary Processes: Involvement with secondary processes such as heat treating, plating, painting, anodizing, or NDT (non-destructive testing).
- Shop Floor: Spend 75% of time on the shop floor working directly with machinists and troubleshooting issues.
- Documentation: Spend 25% of time writing procedures, creating standards, improving processes, and documenting activities.
- Programming: Create and verify CAM programs, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years in a machining environment (preferably 10 years, but 5 years will be considered).
- CNC Proficiency: Proven ability to create parts from scratch and manage first piece runs.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to resolve issues with both parts and machines efficiently.
- CNC Lathe Experience: Essential, with additional mill knowledge as a plus.
- CAM Software: Proficiency in programming CNC machines using CAM software (Esprit preferred, but Mastercam or other CAM software acceptable).
- GD&T: Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in a highly precise industry.
- Secondary Processing: Understanding of processes such as heat treating, plating, painting, anodizing, or NDT.
- End-to-End Manufacturing: Experience overseeing the entire manufacturing process.
- Engineering Degree: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- CNC Tooling: Familiarity with CNC tooling.
- Process Improvement: Experience in creating or improving manufacturing processes.
- Industry Experience: Aerospace industry experience.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD and ERP software.
