We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing essential accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions, and supporting the company's goals in the defense and intelligence sector. This position is in-office, with occasional remote flexibility as needed. This role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a dedicated accountant who is ready to make a significant contribution to our team and the defense industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (AP) - process vendor invoices, validate transactions, obtain appropriate approvals, and ensure timely payments while maintaining accurate AP records.
Accounts Receivable (AR) - post customer payments, reconcile discrepancies, and manage AR aging reports to ensure proper collection of outstanding receivables.
Billing and invoicing - create and issue billing invoices to clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contract terms and government regulations.
Timekeeping - manage the Company's timekeeping process, ensuring proper and timely posting of both internal and subcontractor labor.
Payroll - administer the Company's semi-monthly payroll process, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of payroll data processing and payment.
Bank and credit card reconciliations - perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting, and address any discrepancies.
Balance sheet schedules - maintain and reconcile balance sheet schedules, ensuring all related accounts are accurate and updated regularly.
General ledger - assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all transactions are posted accurately.
Compliance - ensure all financial transactions comply with federal regulations and standards set by the government contracting industry, specifically within the defense and intelligence sectors.
Audit support- assist with external bank and financial audits.
Education required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Relevant work experience may be substituted for formal education.
Skills & Competencies & Experience:
Min of 4 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
Government Contracting experience required.
Proficiency with Unanet or Deltek Costpoint (or similar) accounting software.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Excel.
Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in government contract compliance, including FAR, DCAA, and other regulatory standards.
The salary range for this position is based on depth of experience in accomplishing the job requirements. The position is eligible to participate in our discretionary bonus program.
