About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Philanthropic Development to lead our fundraising initiatives. In this leadership role, you will enhance our external relationships and cultivate a robust, diverse philanthropic program. Your focus will be on stewarding existing donors while seeking out new major donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
The ideal candidate will bring at least 15 years of development and fundraising experience in a nonprofit context with a strong record of securing significant gifts. You should excel in donor relationship management and strategic planning, effectively engaging with various stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include project management, event oversight, and acting as a public representative for our organization, articulating our mission and values.
We prefer candidates with a solid educational background (an undergraduate degree is ideal) and 5-10 years of progressive leadership experience in philanthropic program development. Essential skills include excellent communication (both verbal and written), the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly, and experience across diverse fundraising areas such as individual, institutional, major, planned, digital, and annual giving.
This role requires someone who is proactive, driven, and thrives in a collaborative team environment while being adaptable to our organization’s evolving needs. You should be willing to travel nationally, with travel expectations being less than 10%. We value diversity, equity, and inclusion, and seek candidates who share this commitment.
