Job Description:
The Master Electrician – Residential Services is responsible for the management and completion of all service-related work with minimal guidance and must have the ability to work both independently and as a member of the service team. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, module cleaning, adherence to safety procedures, process improvement and innovation, electronic monitoring set-up. A strong foundation in electrical installation, solar electrical systems, and customer service is required. This position will work primarily independently and at times with a field manager when needed.
This position may require travel and overnight stay, based on the location of projects within the region.
Emergencies- There will be occasions that demand very quick reactions such as 24-hour responses to system failures. It is expected that, on occasion, the O&M Technician will be called into work, on a weekend or previously scheduled time off, at night or on a holiday, to perform troubleshooting and repairs.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, maintain, service, and repair residential and commercial solar systems and associated equipment to ensure 100% customer satisfaction.
- Interact with customers and coworkers at a professional level, able to work both independently and as part of a multi-tasking team.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance both physical and Visual inspections.
- Perform Corrective Maintenance on both residential and commercial solar systems.
- Perform remote on-site customer services, including installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing of residential and commercial solar systems and related equipment.
- Performs a full system commissioning with no guidance.
- Operate a multimeter and SunEye to diagnose solar issues.
- Perform Meters Swaps/Replacements.
- Perform a Suneye test on solar system and a full underperformance investigation.
- Perform system deactivations.
- Perform system reactivations.
- Able to complete standard reporting which includes uploading pictures and compiling a written report up to company standard.
- Keep warehouse/storage units clean and categorized.
- Gather needed material for scheduled work with little guidance.
- Check-in and return material – Can perform full RMA process.
- Identify parts needed to complete standard scopes of work.
- Organize inventory and material counts.
- Like for like inverter replacement without monitoring.
- Remove a solar system with limited guidance.
- Properly unloading/loading of the vehicle per equipment used.
- Properly install flashings/mounts on roof.
- Ability to review schedule and perform standard scopes of work as needed with little guidance.
- Completes ADP timecard daily and job expenses weekly.
- Ensure the company vehicle is stocked with the materials needed for service work.
- Transport materials to job site needed to complete scopes of service work.
Educational, professional and/or other requirements:
- Master Electrician License required in the State of Maryland.
- A minimum of 12,000 hours (6 years) of practical electrical experience, including at least 4,000 hours (2 years) as a journeyman electrician.
- Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business. Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated expertise in Residential Solar Commissioning or Installation.
- Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards is required.
- 1 + years of Residential Solar O&M experience required.
- 3 + years of Residential Solar Installation experience required.
- 3+ years of previous field construction experience required.
- Previous experience in the solar industry is required.
- Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed.
- PV design or PV Electrical experience is required.

- Ability to drive to multiple sites throughout the day.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces which requires frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance.
- Ability to work in confined spaces which require kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including but not limited to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environment, and humidity.
- Ability to frequently utilize hand functions requiring fine motor skills including but not limited to fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
- Ability to frequently utilize gross motor skills including but not limited to pushing, pulling, and reaching.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry objects weighing 80 pounds or less such as inverters or ladders.
Desired Qualifications:
- NABCEP Certification.
- Prior Residential and/or Commercial Solar O&M (service) experience.
- Experience maintaining and servicing solar monitoring systems (i.e. SunPower Monitoring, Locus, Itron, Elster, Enphase, and other various remote monitoring solutions).
- Experience maintaining and servicing solar inverters/micro-inverters (i.e. SMA, PowerOne, Fronius, Aurora, LG, Enphase).
