Overview:

The Fort Collins Symphony Association Board of Directors seeks a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to lead this regional professional orchestra into its next phase of growth and success. The Executive Director is accountable for all strategic and operational aspects of the organization, including managing financial and personnel resources, and for implementing the policies set by the Board. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors, Music Director, and administrative and artistic staff to ensure the organization’s financial stability, artistic excellence, and community engagement.

 Operations: Administrative and Financial Management and Artistic Program Support

·         Serve as chief administrative officer; implement all policies and procedures adopted by the Board and detailed in the Bylaws.

·         Manage the organization’s budget and financial planning.

·         Supervise, and evaluate administrative staff and contractors to ensure efficient day-to-day operations.

·         Ensure insurance, licenses, tax reports, and donor database are current.

·         In collaboration with the Music Director and with the Board’s Executive Committee, carry out plans for each concert season by helping balance artistic goals with financial realities.

·         In collaboration with the Music Director, oversee concert production, venue logistics, guest artist contracts, and production of the program book.

 Strategic Leadership, including Board Relations and Governance

·         Work closely with Board of Directors to fulfill their governance responsibilities and advance the orchestra’s strategic objectives.

·         Support Board in developing mid- and long-range goals and strategic plans, and in identifying potential new Board members.

 Community Engagement, Marketing, and Development

·         Coordinate and assist the Board in development activities, such as initiating fundraising campaigns and hosting special events, securing sponsors and advertisers, and cultivating new donors and sponsors.

·         Write grants and fulfill grant reporting requirements for secured grants.

·         Identify new revenue streams, fund development ideas and audience-building strategies to ensure consistent future growth and expansion of the organization.

·         Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the orchestra, building relationships with community leaders, patrons, and partners.

·         Develop and implement educational programs and outreach initiatives to engage new audiences and foster a deeper connection with the community.

·         Supervise community engagement, education, marketing and development staff to guarantee annual financial goals are met.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years proven leadership experience working in nonprofit organizations, preferably in the performing arts community.

·         Strong financial acumen and demonstrated success in fundraising and revenue generation.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders at all levels through multiple forms of media.

·         Experience with personnel management, including hiring, supervision, evaluation, development, and firing.

·         Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving organizational growth and innovation.

·         Passion for classical music and a commitment to promoting its accessibility and relevance in the community.
