Job Title : Director of Operations

Job Summary : The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production operations within the cabinet manufacturing facility. This includes ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high-quality production standards, optimizing processes, and leading a team of supervisors, and shop floor employees. The Director will also play a critical role in overseeing the implementation of cabinet products, ensuring customer satisfaction, and aligning production with customer needs. This leadership position requires a strong focus on quality, timely delivery, cost control, and continuous improvement to exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership :

Oversee day-to-day operations of the cabinet manufacturing facility, ensuring smooth workflow across all departments.

Develop and implement strategies for improving operational performance and increasing production capacity.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production managers, supervisors, and shop employees, fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.

Maintain a strong focus on lean manufacturing practices, process optimization, and cost control.

Production Management :

Monitor production schedules to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to customer specifications.

Work closely with the design, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure seamless transitions from design to production, addressing any potential issues before they arise.

Ensure that all equipment and machinery are properly maintained and operating efficiently, minimizing downtime.

Quality Control :

Establish and enforce stringent quality standards to meet or exceed customer expectations and industry regulations.

Regularly inspect production processes and finished products to ensure quality assurance and consistency.

Address quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence, striving for zero defects.

Customer Satisfaction & Cabinet Implementation :

Oversee the timely and accurate implementation of cabinet projects, ensuring that customer specifications, design intent, and delivery timelines are met.

Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure clear communication of client expectations, order specifications, and deadlines.

Monitor the installation process and handle any issues related to the delivery and setup of cabinetry, ensuring that customer satisfaction is a top priority.

Address any customer complaints or concerns regarding the product or installation, working to resolve issues quickly and maintain strong relationships.

Work with the customer service team to ensure all post-installation inquiries or adjustments are handled efficiently.

Budget and Cost Management :

Develop and manage the department’s budget, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.

Monitor and control production costs, implementing strategies to reduce waste and increase profitability.

Analyze and report on production metrics, identifying areas for improvement.

Health, Safety, and Compliance :

Ensure a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing health and safety protocols in compliance with OSHA regulations.

Conduct regular safety audits and train staff on best practices for safety and accident prevention.

Ensure that the shop adheres to all relevant environmental and regulatory standards.

Continuous Improvement :

Drive a culture of continuous improvement through the implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.

Identify and implement innovative technologies and production methods that enhance operational efficiency.

Regularly assess shop performance and propose solutions to improve overall productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Collaboration and Communication :

Serve as a liaison between the production team and other departments such as sales, design, and logistics to ensure alignment on customer expectations and project timelines.

Communicate production goals, challenges, and successes with senior leadership, offering data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Manage vendor relationships for sourcing materials and supplies, ensuring timely deliveries and quality control.

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a cabinet manufacturing or similar production environment.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and cost control techniques.

Proven experience in managing large teams and leading cross-functional collaborations.

Ability to interpret data, make decisions based on metrics, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across various departments.

Proficient in ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software.

Customer-focused mindset with experience in ensuring client satisfaction through effective product delivery and implementation.

Experience using cabinetry machinery such as; CNC Machine & Edgebander.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.

Knowledge of cabinet manufacturing machinery and technology.

Experience working with custom cabinetry and high-end residential or commercial projects.

Previous experience in managing post-production processes, including delivery and installation coordination.
