Position Summary
The Data Governance Administrator plays a pivotal role in advancing Busey's data strategy by performing comprehensive data analysis, driving process improvements, conducting gap assessments, and establishing standardized reporting to ensure regulatory compliance and data quality across the organization. This individual will lead complex projects, leveraging their expertise to manage data governance applications to achieve strategic data governance objectives.
This role requires a proactive approach and a passion for educating and guiding team members on best practices in data governance. The Data Governance Administrator will work closely with business units, the Business Intelligence team, and Business Systems to implement regulatory frameworks, standards, and procedures, define critical data elements and data lineage, and document data flows and requirements to support Busey's Data Governance program.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support implementing scalable frameworks, standards and data best practices while upholding integrity and privacy across our data ecosystem and lifecycle. Document and implement workflows, data policies, standards, and procedures for both legacy and new data environments. Support the design and maintenance of data dictionaries, aligning with stakeholder requirements across various platforms Work with teams to ensure complete data lineage is captured and managed for our data of record. Perform data quality audits, identify data collection issues, suggest improvements, and help implement fixes. Manage essential data structures, including taxonomies, reference data, and master data, to support data consistency and quality. Manage the stakeholder communications to ensure all data consumers are aware of the data governance strategies and any changes. Support the documentation and implementation of data quality policies, standards, and procedures for both legacy and new data environments. Develop and lead training efforts in support of Data Governance best practices. Ensure appropriate data access controls and security protocols are enforced in alignment with privacy standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborate closely with data stewards and data owners to align on governance policies and resolve data issues, ensuring data ownership responsibilities are clearly defined and managed. Develop and maintain metrics for data governance activities (e.g., data quality scores, compliance rates, issue resolution times), providing regular reporting to stakeholders to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Regularly monitor and optimize the performance and utilization of the Informatica platform, implementing updates and improvements as necessary to enhance data governance processes. Education & Experience
Education and Training: Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Data Management-related field, or equivalent education/work Experienced with data governance processes, including data quality, lineage, metadata management, and compliance 2+ years of relevant experience in data governance or as a data steward responsible for metadata management, data quality, KPIs, etc. Experience with the Informatica Cloud Data Governance tools highly desired 2+ years of experience in the technology industry; knowledge of the Financial Industry highly desired Ability to lead and facilitate discussions with stakeholders to achieve results, proactively addressing sources of conflict. Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to achieve results in alignment with strategic priorities Self-starter with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build strong relationships and convey complex information clearly and concisely.
