Responsibilities:

This key position is based on-site daily at our headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. The Data Governance Program Manager will work with IT leadership to establish and implement governance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity, availability, and accuracy of organizational data. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, drive data quality improvement initiatives, and establish data governance best practices across the organization. The position is in the corporate office located in Birmingham, AL. Responsibilities and Essential Duties include the following

(other duties may be assigned): Developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of organizational data. Motivating and empowering team members and stakeholders through proactive engagement, effective communication, and inspirational leadership to drive the successful implementation of data governance initiatives. Coordinating with data stewards and other stakeholders to establish and enforce data quality standards, including accuracy, completeness, and reliability. Facilitating the creation and maintenance of a data catalog that documents data sources, data lineage, and metadata to enhance data accessibility and understanding. Overseeing data compliance activities, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to data privacy and protection, such as GDPR and CCPA. Leading data governance meetings and committees, fostering collaboration among business units to align data governance initiatives with organizational objectives. Designing and implementing methods of data classification to categorize data based on sensitivity and importance, guiding appropriate data handling and security measures. Monitoring and reporting on the performance of data governance initiatives, using metrics and KPIs to assess progress and identify areas for improvement. Advocating for the strategic use of data by promoting data literacy and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Assist with Power BI / Power Platform administration including access control, controlling tenant features, activity and usage monitoring, and gateway management. Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field. Experience (2-3 years) in developing and implementing data governance programs. Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and best practices. Proficiency in Power BI. Experience with data modeling, analysis, and visualization. Knowledge of SQL for database querying and manipulation. Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and integration. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills to convey complex data insights clearly. Preferred: Experience with data catalog applications (Atlan, Alation) Certifications related to data governance and data management (e.g. CDMP, DGSP, CIMP). Proven project management skills with the ability to lead projects from conception to completion. Strong leadership and decision-making abilities to guide teams and projects effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with team members, stakeholders, and clients. Ability to set priorities and tackle multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills and experience writing reports and giving presentations. Familiarity with Power BI workspace settings is a plus.
