Job Description:
As a Workstation Specialist (Helpdesk / Desktop Specialist), you will provide advanced PC installation, support, and troubleshooting services within the Client/IED Delivery Center IT team. This hybrid role supports users across various offices, construction field sites, county stockpiles, and remote locations. Responsibilities include installing and configuring hardware, peripherals, and software in both networked and stand-alone environments. Expertise in LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Remedy, MS Windows, RDP, and SCCM is essential. The role demands strong communication, customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and configure PC hardware, peripherals, and software according to technical manuals and processes. Support Cisco VPN routers, network connections, and assign workstation names using Active Directory. Configure CISCO AnyConnect VPN software, upgrade PC components, and manage deployments. Troubleshoot individual PC issues caused by SCCM pushes and maintain workstation compliance. Support mobile iOS devices, including iPhones and iPads, through configuration, updates, and training. Maintain and update equipment inventory using the Remedy Asset Management System. Provide support for telecommunication equipment and services, including VoIP, web conferencing, and smartboards. Document and update technical processes and identify efficiency improvement opportunities. Deliver end-user training for deployed equipment and software. Respond to workstation-related trouble calls onsite and remotely, ensuring timely resolution.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
Valid driver's license and flexibility to travel outside the designated region as needed. Minimum 2 years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PC hardware/software in a LAN/WAN environment. Proficiency in premise cabling, including Cat5e/6 cable installations and terminations. Expertise in supporting laptops, docking stations, and multifunction print devices. Experience with Remedy or similar ticketing systems for issue tracking and resolution. Strong attention to detail, multitasking ability, and adherence to SOPs. Effective written and verbal communication skills in English. Desired experience with Active Directory, Cisco VPN routers, Hyena System Management Software, SCCM, and process documentation. Preferred skills in project management, team deployments, and reading architectural/electrical plans.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $18.00 to $25.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
