Our Opportunity:
Chewy's Sponsored Ads business is expanding rapidly, and we're seeking skilled Senior Front-End Engineers to help shape the future of our ad platform. If you're passionate about building intuitive user experiences for advertisers and customers alike, we'd love to hear from you! In this role, you'll drive iterative development, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the growth of one of Chewy's fastest-growing revenue streams.
About You:
As an experienced Software Engineer with a background in frontend and full-stack development, you excel in using TypeScript, React, NodeJS, and Express. You're also comfortable working on backend services with technologies like Java, Kotlin, Kafka, and both SQL/NoSQL databases. You have expertise in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), cloud environments (AWS), and authentication services.
Your hands-on experience and track record ensure you can build and ship new applications or features to existing applications, quickly and efficiently.
About the Team:
Launched in 2022, Chewy's Sponsored Ads platform enables vendors to promote their products on-site and offsite, significantly contributing to Chewy's revenue growth. The team manages both customer-facing and vendor-facing experiences, balancing a startup culture with operational excellence. We are based in Boston and Seattle.
What You'll Do: Be responsible for delivering projects, designing systems, and mentoring junior engineers. Design, develop and implement solutions using varied technologies focusing on scalability, latency, and resiliency. Own team estimation process and deliver according to the estimates. Perform code reviews and provide meaningful feedback to other engineers on the team. Apply DevOps practices to minimize technical debt and improve release cycles. Participate in user research to understand customer needs and enhance our ad platform. Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and across functional teams. What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience). 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, focusing on modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular). Proven experience building scalable, highly available systems. Ninja coding and debugging skills Passion for metrics and data-driven decision making. Knowledge of professional software engineering practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations Solid understanding of CS fundamentals: object-oriented design, algorithms, and problem-solving Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bonus:
Experience in Ad Tech and/or e-commerce. Experience with Scrum, XP or other agile methodologies. Familiarity with Test driven development. Familiarity with AWS.
Compensation & Benefits:
Our salary range for a Software Engineer III position is $115,500.00 - $183,500.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k, and a new hire and annual equity grant. We offer different types of insurance, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. We offer parental leave, family services benefits, backup dependent care, flexible spending accounts, telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and many discounts including 10% off pet insurance and 20% off at Chewy.com. Salaried-exempt team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year.
