In this role you will :
This position is responsible for providing the best orthopedic care available to patients by following best medical care practices to deliver a high volume of acute orthopedic care by optimizing the provider-patient contact time. They will ensure all patients are adequately prepared prior to seeing the physician and to ensure that all patients thoroughly understand their condition, participate in their care, receive all appropriate information, scripts, casting or DME products, patient education materials, etc., to adhere to their care plan per the provider's instructions and protocols.
Key Responsibilities: To provide excellent customer service to all patients, visitor, and coworkers Prepare all patient charts in Athena for visit by ensuring that all intake paperwork is completed Retrieves patient's digital images from Medview system on exam room monitors during clinic for physician review Escorts the patients into the exam rooms and completes patient intake documentation per clinic protocol Prepares patient for visit with provider by removing sutures, staples, dressings, etc., having patient change as necessary, positioning patient for exam or procedure and completing any necessary consents Assists the physician during visit with injections or office procedures Applies and removes casts/splints and DME that is in stock as ordered by the provider Provides patients with information and education on the proper use and care of casts and DME Completes documentation in EMR for casting or DME as necessary Prepares prescriptions, excuse notes, referrals, and patient education materials Ensures that the patient understands the physician's instructions for sample medications and follow-up care Ensures all DCW25 work comp status forms are completed, a copy is provided to the patient and originals are returned to front desk staff for submission to WC department Breakdown of patient charts with appropriate disposal of PHI, completion and scanning of patient forms, records, etc. Cleans and maintains zone, exam rooms and cast room, ensuring red bags and sharps boxes are replaced if applicable, ensuring all treatment surfaces are wiped down with antimicrobial solution after each patient and at end of shift Re-stocks all exam rooms and MA station for the next day clinic Ensures the safety and security of all PHI in accordance with state and federal HIPPA regulations Takes/returns phone calls from patients or from other departments, clinics, or outside facilities regarding UC patients Assists in addressing and resolving items in staff in box within EMR Assure compliance with all company plans, policies and procedures set forth by the Florida Orthopaedic Institute All other duties as assigned About You:
High School Diploma required Medical Assistant Diploma, or RMA Certification required Excellent written and verbal communication skills Computer proficiency with EMRs Meet the expectations of our internal and external customer service standards Ability to perform tasks independently with the direction of their manager We Would Love It If You Also Had:
