Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We're doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.
Process
Engineering Intern/Co-op
Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Process Engineering intern or co-op to support our research and development, pilot projects, and commercial scale production operations.
Responsibilities will include: Supporting and leading design and modelling of chemical engineering aspects of new processes, including the creation of detailed process flow documentation. Assisting with setup, testing, and debugging of new processing operations. Conducting sample testing, pilot-scale research projects, and experiments for new processes. Desired Qualifications
Pursuing a B.S. or advanced degree in chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, chemistry, materials science, or another discipline with significant relevant coursework. Prior internship or work experience with a leading technology company in a chemical or process engineering role, preferably with new process development. Able to operate independently conducting experiments in a wet chemistry lab. Experience with factory modeling concepts such as material flows, yields, and recovery rates. Academic or professional background in inorganic chemistry and precious metals refining. Working knowledge of major chemical and process analysis software packages. Self-motivated, hands-on mindset, with a willingness to contribute at all levels. A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!
This full-time paid position may be arranged as either an internship (12 weeks) or a Co-op (4-8 months), depending on the candidate.

The location of the internship is either in the Reno or Carson City, Nevada area (exact location is based on team placement). Interns are responsible for making their own housing and transportation arrangements. Please note that due to the location of our campuses, public transit options are limited, and the use of a personal or rented vehicle is recommended.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
