Job Summary:
We are seeking a
Galvanizing Steel Forklift Operator
to join our team. The ideal candidate will operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to safely transport galvanized steel products through various stages of the galvanizing process, ensuring efficient movement, storage, and safety in our manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Forklift Operation:
Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move steel products through the galvanizing process and between various stages of production and storage. Steel Handling:
Safely load, unload, and transport galvanized steel products, ensuring proper stacking and storage to prevent damage. Material Movement:
Transport raw materials, galvanized steel sheets, coils, and finished products to designated areas within the warehouse or production floor. Inventory Control:
Assist with inventory management by recording and tracking steel materials and finished products using barcode scanners or manual logs. Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety standards, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe lifting techniques, operating procedures, and facility guidelines. Inspection and Maintenance:
Perform regular inspections of forklifts and other equipment to ensure they are in good working condition. Report any maintenance issues or malfunctions to supervisors. Collaboration:
Work closely with other team members, supervisors, and production staff to ensure the efficient flow of materials throughout the galvanizing process. Cleanliness:
Maintain a clean and organized work environment by regularly cleaning work areas, forklifts, and surrounding spaces. Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating forklifts, preferably in a steel manufacturing, galvanizing, or warehouse environment. Forklift Certification:
Valid forklift operator certification required. Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Safety Knowledge:
Strong understanding of safety procedures, especially in environments where heavy machinery and steel products are handled. Attention to Detail:
Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain an organized work environment to ensure quality control. Communication Skills:
Basic communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors. Other Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; clean background and ability to pass a drug screen. Preferred Skills:
Experience working in a steel galvanizing facility or similar manufacturing environment. Familiarity with inventory control systems or warehouse management software. Basic mechanical skills for forklift maintenance. Working Conditions:
The position is based in a manufacturing facility, where exposure to industrial machinery, high temperatures, and steel handling is common. The job may require working in shifts, including evenings or weekends, depending on production needs. Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots.
