Application Engineer

Requirements
Bachelor s degree in engineering is strongly recommended or 5 years experience in bulk material handling or in estimated technical proposals. Proficient in MS Excel, Access and PowerPoint MS Word and Outlook. Have extensive expertise in pneumatic conveying of one of more of the following areas: food products, chemicals, plastics, and minerals, special abrasive conveying applications. The position is located in the Tampa Bay Florida area. Some travel will be required.
Job Description
Interface with client and sales engineer to acquire information needed for proposal preparation. Develop flow diagrams for pneumatic conveying and bulk handling applications, including vacuum and pressure dense phase and dilute phase pneumatic conveying silo storage systems and scaling equipment. Include all necessary electrical and instrumentation on flow diagrams. Analyze customer data, such as recipes, product usage, ingredient characteristics, accuracy requirements, and cross contamination issues to facilitate initial system design. Size pneumatic conveying system components, such as rotary valves, filters, blowers, piping and related instrumentation, as well as silos, bins, hoppers, storage containers, feeders, valves, and miscellaneous bulk handling equipment. Determine estimated compressed air consumption and other utility usage. Develop system proposal estimates using our company's custom Access-based proposal estimating program. Evaluate and incorporate control system estimate into the overall proposal. Obtain sub-vendor pricing for special items and interface heavily with sub-vendors and in-house personnel. Estimate, on a budgetary basis, electrical control systems, mechanical and electrical installation costs, freight charges and on-site supervision and start-up. Assemble final proposal, including text, flow diagrams, and necessary documents for presentation to client Have the ability to discuss proposal with client and Zeppelin sales engineer and assist in closing the order. Participate in project kick off meetings by preparing a sales release package to engineering and assist project managers in determining initial budget and price basis. EOE/ADA
