Technical Assistance Specialist Fully RemoteGA Job Type Full-time Description Overview Tanaq Management Services (TMS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, technology, and other government services. About the Role We are seeking a Technical Assistance Specialist to provide support for a technical assistance project for the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention that focuses on supporting state and local jurisdictions surveillance, prevention, and evaluation efforts to address overdose. The ideal candidate will have experience implementing or leading training and technical assistance projects. Provide innovative processes for adult learning. Must have a strong background in public health and behavioral health, specifically. This is a fully remote position based in United States. Responsibilities Work as part of a team providing a range of technical assistance services, including providing one-on-one support to federal project officers. Overseeing development of written products; coordination and design of all aspects of technical assistance events (meeting planning, requirements, coordination of or oversight of meeting technology) Provide resource development, lead workshops, lead or coordinate needs assessments of grant program recipients, oversee and manage a small pool of consultants who deliver technical assistance, and design resources in multiple formats and for multiple audiences. Identifying, documenting, and tracking technical assistance activities. Overseeing and managing technical assistance activities through an online TA tracking system. Supporting development and maintenance of an online resource center, including an online TA tracking system. Overseeing subject matter expert deployment and execution of training and technical assistance tasks. Designing, delivering, and evaluating training (in-person, virtual, modular). Developing and implementing guidance documents. Designing and facilitating peer-to-peer learning forums or communities of practice. Building and managing relationships with various partners: grantees, TA provider organizations, and federal clients. Requirements Required Experience and Skills Minimum of 2 years in training and technical assistance project design or delivery. Must have experience with the design/creation of products for multiple audiences and in multiple formats. Knowledge of TA methodologies and delivery of best practices in overdose prevention and surveillance. Ability to think analytically; define and thoroughly document tasks; conceptualize, plan, and complete major elements of project work. Expertise with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access) Ability to manage discrete tasks with limited supervision is required. Proficiency in hosting webinars through online communications platforms. Strong oral communication skills and well-developed writing skills. Attention to detail, computer proficiency, and the ability to multitask under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders with a range of content and technical assistance expertise, from community members to academic researchers. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as a team member are required. Expertise in independently developing written products such as contract reports, guidance documents, electronic resources related to public health prevention, and other presentations is required. Ability to obtain government clearance. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. Preferred Experience and Skills Experience with behavioral health issues, including overdose surveillance and prevention interventions. Lived experience with behavioral health is desirable. Experience working across a wide variety of federal government stakeholders is preferred. Experience with government programs, particularly in a consulting environment, is highly desired. Understanding state, territory, tribal, or local public health organizations. Experience with desk reviews. Experience with quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods. Experience with qualitative analysis based on document review qualitative data abstraction, management, and synthesis. Education and Training Master's degree in public health, public policy, behavioral/social sciences, or related field required. Direct experience with behavioral health is desirable. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
