Job Description:
As a Microsoft Active Directory (AD) Architect, you will be a key team member managing one of Central PA's largest consolidated Active Directory and messaging systems, supporting over 100,000 Active Directory accounts and mailboxes across multiple forests. Working with Microsoft technologies including Exchange 2019, Windows Server 2022/2019/2016, and Microsoft 365, this role provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for both on-premises Active Directory and Azure Active Directory. You will also be responsible for ensuring high availability, security, and disaster recovery readiness across multiple domains.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the Senior AD architect, overseeing the design, implementation, and support of multiple multi-domain directories. Develop and lead disaster recovery plans for Active Directory, coordinating with clients to ensure reliability and readiness. Establish, document, and enforce standards, security procedures, and controls to maintain the integrity of AD and related systems. Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for Active Directory infrastructure, including DNS and Key Management Service (KMS). Manage and implement Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to enhance security across environments. Develop and utilize PowerShell scripts for efficient AD administration and automation. Collaborate effectively within the team and communicate directly and professionally. Regularly update and maintain documentation of AD configurations, changes, and best practices. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for Active Directory processes and systems.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
Minimum of 10 years of IT experience, with at least 5-10 years in Active Directory administration for multi-site environments on Windows Server 2008 and newer. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Extensive expertise with Active Directory 2016/2019/2022 in an enterprise setting. Proven experience with DNS and Key Management Service (KMS) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for AD management. Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues. Effective team player with a collaborative approach.
Desired Skills and Certifications:
Microsoft Windows Server certifications. Microsoft Core Infrastructure certification. Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator certification. Microsoft PKI and Certificate Services certification. ITIL v3 or v4 Foundations certification.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $60.00 to $90.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
