Job Summary and Essential Functions
This position typically provides GIS support in the daily maintenance and presentation of geographic data.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provides spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and mapping support to include editing existing and creating new digital or hardcopy maps using ArcGIS 10.x Desktop software suite and ArcGIS Pro. Performs complex edits on new and existing ArcGIS layers and general ArcGIS Geodatabase queries and maintenance. Creates, maintains, tests, and improves organizational ArcGIS Server applications and services. Coordinates technical GIS projects with outside systems, vendors, and County staff. Provides GIS technical support and training for new and existing GIS users. Performs ArcGIS Geodatabase maintenance and related GIS quality assurance and quality control practices and procedures. Assists with maintaining GIS software, including installation and upgrades. Completes complex mapping and editing tasks. Imports GIS data into database and performs data updates for various layers. Assists customers by working with various County departments, consortium members and the public. Performs GIS data updates for Communications (911). Performs other duties as required. Minimum Requirements to Perform Work
Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, computer science, engineering, or related field; Four (4) years of related experience with GIS concepts and applications; Or equivalent education, and/or experience. Special Requirements:
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for South Carolina with safe driving record; Departmental testing may be administered during interview; A criminal background check will be completed on selected applicant if a current one (less than 3 years old) is not on file. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro) suite of software and related applications. Knowledge or experience with one or more of the following: ModelBuilder, Python, ArcObjects SDK, JavaScript, Java, HTML, HTML5, CSS, XML, AJAX, DOJO, JQuery and Microsoft SQL highly preferred. Knowledge of cadastral mapping and Coordinate Geometry (COGO) data input. Ability to interpret complex information and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work autonomously, be well organized, multi-task and prioritize workloads. Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills. Must have excellent customer service principles. Physical Demands
This position requires the employee to reach with hands and arms; stand; use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use mental acuity and repetitive motion; and walk, talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to forty (40) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Conditions
The work is regularly performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Thirty-seven and one half (37.5) hours per week. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. with the ability to work after hours when necessary. Scheduled hours/days and location subject to change. May be required to work extra hours and to perform extra or different duties during emergency situations.
