About the Role >>> Associate Director of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting
Olema is looking for an Associate Director of Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting to join our dynamic team and become an integral part of the finance and accounting operations. This position will be responsible for a broad range of activities including but not limited to technical accounting analysis, external audit, SOX compliance, financial close, SEC reporting, and special projects.
This role will be based in San Francisco and will report directly to the VP of Finance & Controller.
Your work will primarily encompass:
- Manage all aspects of the company's SEC reporting function, including but not limited to preparation of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and etc., working with the legal team and external auditors, managing tie-outs, and internal/external review of all documents incorporating into the documents to ensure timely and accurate filing of the Company's financial statements with the SEC
- Complete external reporting and GAAP checklists and review XBRL tagging
- Perform research and draft technical accounting memos related to new and proposed accounting standards and complex accounting transactions, including reviewing of executed contracts, in compliance with US GAAP and external reporting regulations
- Monitor new accounting pronouncements and accounting policy developments and lead implementation efforts, including required disclosures and education of senior management
- Support and review annual proxy supporting schedules and other SEC filings ensuring the accuracy of applicable financial information
- Work closely with external auditors on quarterly reviews and annual audits
- Manage and review clinical and contract manufacturing accruals
- Participate in SOX 404b implementation and maintain ongoing compliance
- Support external tax advisors PBC requests for tax compliance matters
- Participate in financial systems implementation
- Other responsibilities / ad-hoc requests as required

Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Business, CPA required
- 8+ years of audit / public accounting experience required
- Big 4 accounting/audit experience in an SEC & PCAOB environment preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a public company highly preferred
- Life Science industry experience with strong clinical and drug manufacturing accounting knowledge highly preferred
- Strong US GAAP, SEC and SOX 404b regulations and guidelines
- Excellent working knowledge of financial statements and good understanding of tools to benchmark disclosure practices
- ERP system experience preferred
- Ability to independently research, interpret, analyze, compile, and present data and information
- Ability to organize and communicate research materials/results (both verbal and written) clearly to senior management
- Experience with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication and skills
- Analytical thinking with problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic; fast learner who can identify the core project challenges and expeditiously change course as required in a fast-paced organization

The base pay range for this position is expected to be $174,000 - $204,000 annually, however the base pay offered may vary depending on location, market, job related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes equity, bonus, and benefits.
