Qualifications

-One to Five years’ experience in operating heavy equipment, two preferably related to heavy construction


Responsibilities

  • The equipment operator operates a variety of equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair of sitework projects, roads, parking lots and other job sites
  • Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in site, parking lot, or road construction and paving
  • Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures
  • Brings problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Director or HR Director
  • Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings
  • Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the foreman or shop manager; cleans equipment
  • Controls traffic at worksites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day

Duties:  

It is standard for an operator to perform a variety of duties involving the operation and maintenance of one or several types of power construction equipment, such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete or other hard surface pavement.  Operators are required to complete and uphold required operating credentials and expected to operate in a safe manner at all times.   Operators are expected to inspect, clean, lubricate and refill equipment daily or as needed. In addition to the standard operating duties, operator may at times be asked to complete laborer duties listed above.  Operators are expected to be able to endure physical demands such as bend, stoop, squat, or stand for a significant period of time, lift at least fifty pounds, climb a ladder, and withstand outside temperature changes. 

Knowledge of GPS machinery is a plus but not required.


 A pre-employment drug screen applies to this position.  A motor vehicle record of 3 years history may also apply if candidate will drive company vehicle.
