JOB SUMMARY

The one-year fellowship program is tailored to the administrative fellows' specific interests, as well as to organizational initiatives, during their tenure at the hospital. Fellows will also gain valuable mentorship and professional development opportunities from Mon Health's senior executives. During the first 9 months, fellows will focus on rotations and project-based work in different areas of the organization. The final 3 months will be spent completing an executive-level capstone project.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:MHA, MHSA, MBA, MPH, MSN, MHI, or other closely related program
  • Relevant work experience (summer or previous employment)
  • Must be within 1 year post graduation of educational program as of July 2025
Selected candidates will be required to provide 3 Letters of Recommendations (1 - Director of Program, 2 - Professional/Practitioners in Field)

Example Projects
  • Working with the new hospital builds.
  • Working with new health systems.
  • Streamlining processes.
  • Working with finance during budget season.
  • Leading a targeted, priority initiative based on the Vandalia Health Strategic Plan.
  • Work with a department leader to develop and pilot a creative staffing plan with non-traditional healthcare work schedule.
  • Partner with HR to help lead the launch one of many new Workforce Development initiatives (high school partnerships, Medical Explorers).
  • Develop a communication plan for providers.
Components
  • Adoption of fellowship goals and objectives, including periodic review with the preceptor.
  • Direct access to the CEO, executive suite, and entire management staff.
  • Participation in leadership and senior management meetings, where direction, policy, and strategic planning issues are addressed.
  • Participation in central corporate functions, e.g., finance and general operations.
  • Participation in the completion of special projects/programs central to Mon Health, e.g., accreditation board preparation, budget development, clinical program analysis, etc.
In the last quarter of fellowship, will lead projects for the organization, under mentoring of a specific leader or the preceptor
  • Participation in educational opportunities, offered by the organization, professional associations, or other entities.
Fellowship Goals and Objectives:

The primary objectives of the Administrative Fellowship Program are to:
  • Support the fellow in developing a comprehensive understanding of the organization's operations.
  • Prepare the fellow to assume a contributing role on a healthcare management team, post fellowship.
  • Provide an opportunity to enhance important managerial competencies such as customer service, financial stewardship, operations management, change management and performance management, or financial analysis.
  • Primary focus on the fellow's assimilation of knowledge, development of attitude and philosophy toward the field, and further refinement of a management style.
  • Providing exposure to various corporate activities to expand fellow's skills and knowledge.
  • Commitment of the entire Mon Health team to integrate and retain high quality fellows within the organization post-fellowship.
