Duties:
Responsible and accountable for utilizing the nursing process in the provision of patient care. Operating Room Nurse is responsible for the planning, execution, conducting and evaluating both direct and indirect nursing care to surgical patients. The duties range from preoperative interventions to post-operative assessments that could help meet a patient’s need throughout the operative care

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, cognitive, and cultural diversity of the patient. · Determines mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition and adjusts plan of care, as appropriate. · Responsible for supervising and directing patient care in the operating suite while ensuring proper techniques are used. · Maintains count on sponges, needles and other instruments used in the operating room. · Collaborates as appropriate with physician and other clinical disciplines in planning interventions to meet patient and family needs. · Operating Room Nurse also serves as a scrub nurse when necessary. · Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients and families. · Prepares the operative area, positions patient adjusts operative table. · Evaluates and documents patient response to and outcome of care provided and revises plan of care accordingly. · Ensures all supplies and equipment required are sterile and available for use. · Observes any changes in the patient’s condition. · Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team. · Performs other duties as required. · Directs other staff when necessary, report any unusual occurrences to surgeon in charge. · Ensures all medication s are administered and charted. · Ensures care of specimens are labeled and secured as per policy.

Experience:

• A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in an Operating Room setting

Education:

• Bachelor’s Nursing preferred

Certifications Licenses:

• NYS RN License
• BLS
