Job Description
General Summary:
The Get Well Place provides backup care for ill children with common childhood illnesses such as colds, flu, stomach bugs, etc. The Get Well Place is architecturally separated from the rest of the school and can accommodate various illnesses. After a quick assessment by our nurse, children are assigned to classrooms based on diagnoses or symptom profiles, to avoid cross-contamination. Children in the Get Well Place return to wellness without fear of contracting another illness because of our nurse’s expertise and adherence to universal precautions.
Principal Duties:
A.Get Well Place Responsibilities
- Assesses each child on admission using the Daily Admission Form and admits according to Get Well Place admission criteria.
- Maintains complete, accurate and current files (updated with each admission) on all Get Well Place admissions.
- Maintains an ongoing assessment of each child’s status and report changes to the Director and parents as applicable.
- Implements lesson plans designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of ongoing Get Well Place admissions.
- Administers all medications necessary for children in LeafSpring School or the Get Well Place.
- Maintains standard of infection control and cleanliness set forth in the LeafSpring School/Get Well Place Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Maintains attendance record for all admitted children.
- Assesses and documents all injuries/incidents.
- Provides necessary emergency care per Get Well Place policy.
- Assists in maintaining accurate and current health records on all children, including immunization records.
- Assists in the completion of the self assessment in preparation for the Brand Compliance Review as requested by the Director.
B. Communication Responsibilities
- Establishes warm, open communication with the parents keeping them well informed of their child’s health status.
- Completes the Child's Daily Record for each admission.
- Functions as liaison between the child, his parents, the health care team, the LeafSpring School administrative team, and the educational staff.
- Documents assessments as needed
- Makes daily phone calls to the parents of absent children
C. Work Ethic and Team Behaviors
- Maintains an attendance record that is consistent with high professional standards.
- Represents LeafSpring School at community functions/events/projects as situations arise.
- Serves as a professional role model in behavior, appearance, and communications.
- Maintains positive relationships with enrolled children and families, all faculty, and staff, LeafSpring School franchise locations, the local ECE (Early Childhood Education) community and the greater community.
- Serves as back-up for classroom and Get Well Place and adhere to school policy in that role.
- Maintains ongoing professional growth.
- Maintains CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned (i.e., site goal responsibilities, designated assignments).
D. Fiscal Responsibilities
- Maintains a safe, clean, well-organized and appropriately supplied environment.
- Oversees a conservative, respectful use of materials and equipment and submits supply requisitions to the director or appropriate designee.
- Operates within annual Get Well Place budget.
- Supports Get Well Place marketing and fiscal accountability.
- Shows ownership of maintaining campus appearance, e.g. keeping shared areas and playground clean and clutter free, picking up trash (inside and outside), etc.
E. Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service to parents, children, visitors, and vendors, ensuring a welcoming and positive experience.
- Uphold high service standards, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages open communication and mutual respect.
- Actively seek and implement feedback to enhance service quality and improve customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
- Must be 18 years of age. For certain positions, you must have a clean driving record, be over the age of 21 and have held a valid driver's license for at least 5 years. Subject to check of driving record.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, and possessing a current nursing license.
- Must have at least two years of recent pediatric experience.
- Must have technology competency as it relates to the responsibilities of the position.
- Must be CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Must be English proficient and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic - must be a team player!
- Willingness to work flexible schedule between the hours of 7am - 6pm
Work Environment:
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, sit, walk, run short distances, stand, reach above head, move up and down from floor to lift children.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of up to 50 lbs.
- Must have color/depth perception and fine hand & finger movements.
- Necessary traits for this position are: Seeing, Hearing, Talking, Reading, and Writing.
- Must be able to positively interact with co-workers, parents, children, vendors, and visitors.
- Working conditions may include exposure to loud noises, odors, fumes from paint, art materials or other sources, temperature variations from either working inside or outside.
