Job Description
Duties:
1: Assessment skills. Has competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric and delivers patient care appropriately. Performs thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive and accurate.
2. Clinical Skills. Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills. Performs direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and team concept. Provides competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit. Demonstrates knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures.
3. Documentation. Maintains complete and accurate documentation. Demonstrates knowledge of documentation guidelines. Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient's progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient's chart including patient education.
4. Professionalism. Demonstrates professional practice responsibility. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures and is able to identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
5. Patient Satisfaction. Consistently responds to patient's/families and co-workers in a professional, courteous, positive manner to promotes an environment where the patient and family is at the center and the patient care team works cooperatively toward their goal and objectives. Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
6. Safety. Consistently follows the National Patient Safety Goals including following Universal Protocol and identifying patient's utilizing 2 patient identifiers. Demonstrates use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self, and patient's.
7. Unit Specific Job Function. Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures and equipment encountered for surgical patient's. Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care. Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.
8. Responsibility and Accountability. Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing the care of patient's depending on their needs and any changes in their condition.
9. Patient Education and Chart Completion. Assesses patient's understanding of surgical procedure/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching. Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
10. Duties Specific to PAT RN. Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner. Evaluates Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health.

Skills:
3 years critical care experience - required
RN License - Required
BLS - Required
ACLS - Required
Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Associates or Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
Certifications & Licenses:
ACLs
BLS
RN License
NIHSS- required prior to starting
Day shift, 10 hours. Varied start times typically 7a, 7:30a or 8a On call required for when dept is closed as well as Weekends, holidays on call
On call requires 30 min max response time. On call approx. 10 days per month
Must be proficient in Cath lab nursing (minimum 3 years) . IR, Pacemaker and Peripheral experience preferred Experience with Epic documentation preferred. Experience monitoring preferred
