Requirements

  • Current unencumbered license to work as an RN in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Adult CPR (current certification) and IV Therapy certificates
  • Three years experience in a long-term care facility, with one year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical/nursing practices and procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines, including those related to nursing and assisted living care, facilities, and Medicare
  • Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to Skilled Nursing and Memory Care.
  • Must safely perform all essential job functions without harming oneself or others with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, e-mail, and other general computer systems

● Sound nursing judgment and hands-on nursing care skills, including the ability to deliver urgent nursing care when necessary

● Used to behavior and needs of older adults, as well as integrity and discretion in dealing with personal and health information (including HIPAA compliance)

● Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and leadership skills

● Can read and interpret technical instructions and materials, accurately document treatment, and write clear reports and business correspondence

● Problem-solver, detail-oriented, and able to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

● Good basic math and computer skills

● Organized, adaptable, patient, reliable, safety-minded, empathetic, and a team player!

Please note: while we strongly believe in equal opportunities, this position necessitates specific physical requirements, including lifting up to 20 pounds unassisted, sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling, balancing, and maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling, going over the head, pushing/pulling, grasping with both hands and fine manipulation.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

● Plan, organize, and implement nursing services program to meet resident medical needs

● Coordinate resident admission with families and social services departments

● Monitor care and develop care plans, consulting with physicians and staff

● Maintain relationships with physicians, pharmacists, and service providers

● Coordinate nursing services with other resident services for continuity of care

● Oversee staffing, including interviewing, hiring, and training

● Investigate and respond to resident and family concerns

● Coordinate ordering and care of supplies and equipment

● Complete required forms, reports, evaluations, and studies

● Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for personnel, residents, and visitors

● Maintain and update written policies and procedures

● Participate in surveys, inspections, in-service classes, and meetings

● Participate in Nursing Administration on-call rotation

  • Assume 24-hour responsibility and accountability for resident care
  • Handle emergency calls as necessary and inform the Director of Nursing and Administrator when appropriate
  • Attend daily stand-up meetings and report residents' status and related matters as required.
  • Review 24-hour reports with nurses and supervisors as needed
  • Oversee daily assignments for staff
  • Complete other duties as assigned
