MDS Coordinator

Full Time Days and Evenings | Hybrid

Experience Based Rate starting at $91,666/year

United Methodist Communities in Camden County, a 5-Star full-service senior living community that is a model in person-centered care community, located in beautiful Collingswood, NJ is seeking an MDS Coordinator.


Requirements for an MDS Coordinator:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, NJ licensed RN.
  • Two years of long-term care clinical nursing experience.
  • Experience with RAI/MDS completion, reimbursement, and clinical resource utilization and/or case management.
  • 3-5 years of related experience including RAI/MDS completion, reimbursement and resource utilization/case management preferred.
  • Holds a current and unencumbered license from the New Jersey State Board of Nurses.
  • AANAC Certification preferred.

Responsibilities for an MDS Coordinator:

  • Tracks Medicare residents and Medicare days available. Assigns admitting and principle diagnostic codes and enters them into the EMR. Completing nursing assigned MDS items, CAA's and care plans. Performs concurrent MDS review. Identifies opportunities to increase reimbursement. Responsible for the data entry function. Verifies accuracy of MDS prior to locking. Prior to transmission, utilizes CareWatch or alternate quality control program. Transmits MDS's on a weekly basis to CMS. Reviews initial and final validation and error reports. Corrects system warnings and fatal errors. Maintains all reports and transmissions data in a systematic format. Stores in a safe/locked area. Conducts regular audit of MDS process. Audits medical record documentation.
  • Tracks facility CMI on weekly and quarterly basis. Participates in the interdisciplinary team process to communicate RAI information, including accurate schedule. Maintains a current and comprehensive knowledge of RAI/MDS and Medicare (PPS)reimbursement.
  • Ensures accurate completion of the MDS in accordance with PDPM and current federal guidelines.
