Job Description
The Behavioral Wellness Center, located in the heart of North Central Philadelphia, is a long-standing behavioral health facility that serves a diverse patient population. We offer a comprehensive continuum of care in Behavioral Health including addictive services, from detoxification services, residential care, outpatient services, as well as acute and sub-acute psychiatric services and more. We provide quality care, treatment, prevention and education in our facilities and in the community.
We are looking to add compassionate RNs to our nursing team! The Professional Nurse in Behavioral Medicine is a professional who demonstrates a commitment in the assessment and management of Psychiatric and/or dually diagnosed client. The Registered Nurse assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care provided to a select group of clients ranging in age from 18 through geriatric and their families within the context of the Dual Diagnosis Program, Nursing Department and hospital philosophy and goals. He/she is expected to apply hospital and nursing service policies when rendering nursing care and providing health teaching to patients and families.
Recognizing that nursing care is one portion of health care, the Registered Nurse is expected to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team, interacting collegially with staff, physicians, consultants, and interdepartmental personnel.
- Graduate from a NLN accredited school of professional nursing, required. Baccalaureate degree, preferred.
- Current Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure required.
- One year of professional nursing practice, preferred.
- Psychiatric nursing experience, desired.
- CPR/BLS required.
- Successful completion of The Be Well Center orientation and hospital required certifications required.
- Bi-lingual capabilities (English/Spanish) a plus.
ADA Requirements & Working Conditions
Must be able to speak and hear sufficient enough to communicate effectively by phone and or in person at normal volumes. Manual dexterity is required to take notes and simultaneously document pertinent information. Vision should be adequate enough to allow for focus adjustment to read charts, computer screen, forms, etc. Significant time may be spent on the computer entering information which requires attention to detail and accuracy. Will be required to spend significant time on client care unit or treatment room settings; to stand, walk and have close contact with others. Lifting, maneuvering and transporting of materials will be required from time to time. May be required to participate in physical restraints.
Since the holistic approach to the patient is practiced, the Nursing staff is expected to be challenged in the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual dimensions for which they must be prepared. The incumbent will deal with a wide variety of people on various issues and will be placed under significant deadlines associated with this position. The work is performed in client areas, with direct patient contact therefore, there exists a potential for exposure to environmental hazards and contagious diseases. Knowledge of hospital health, infection control, ethics, safety policies and contagious diseases is essential. The mental stress can be demanding. Flexible scheduling may be necessary from time to time.
